Fund-raising run set to hit Link Road

RUNNERS will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to follow the route of the new Bexhill to Hastings Link Road before it opens.

In May next year, Hastings and Bexhill Lions Club is staging a fund-raising 10k run on the new highway, currently being built by East Sussex County Council and due for completion in 2015. Watch our video with Eric Hardwick from Hastings Half.

The event is being sponsored by the council’s Link Road contractor, Hochtief Taylor Woodrow Joint Venture (HTWJV).

Richard Wall-Morris of HTWJV said: “We are very proud of our new road and pleased to see this special event take place as part of our opening celebrations, and to see all monies raised go back into the community.”

The date of the run will be announced early in the New Year once the final completion date for the Link Road is known.

The Link Road, to be called Combe Valley Way, will bring major economic benefits to Bexhill and Hastings including 2,000 new homes, 3,000 new jobs and more than £1 billion of economic benefits.

The road will also herald the development of 42 acres of land in North East Bexhill including a 50,000 square metre business park, and will also relieve the high level of traffic congestion on the A259 between the two towns.
