Rural broadband scheme given connectivity boost

More South East homes and businesses can get superfast broadband

Cllr Rupert SimmonsMore homes and businesses in South East have been reached by the Government’s nationwide rollout of superfast broadband, figures published today (Wednesday 12 August) reveal.

The rollout is delivering superfast access – internet speeds greater than 24 Mbps – to those properties not covered by existing commercial networks and is on track to take superfast access to 95 per cent of the UK by 2017. More than four out of five UK premises already have access to superfast speeds, and the rollout is currently reaching an additional 40,000 homes and businesses every week. Continue reading

Minister hails Swift support for businesswomen

Swift projectA PROJECT supporting local women to improve and develop business and digital skills has been given the seal of approval after a visit from a Government minister.

Led by the East Sussex County Council Broadband Team, the Swift project offers a bespoke digital and business skills training programme that supports people to develop the skills and knowledge needed to set up and run business ventures. Continue reading
