New youth group offers Hastings youngsters support and advice

A new group for young people in Hastings who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender has been set up by East Sussex County Council.

The Targeted Youth Support Service launched the group – Some People – to offer LGBT young people, and those questioning their sexuality or gender, a safe and inclusive environment to discuss issues and get help and support.

The group meets every Tuesday between 6pm and 8pm, and offers advice on how to deal with bullying, health, relationships and coming out.

It also gives young people a chance to meet other, like-minded people and learn more about the LGBT community in a fun and friendly environment.

Regular trips are organised and have recently included visits to Pizza Express and Mallydams Wood.

To find out the venue for the meetings or for more information about the group, contact Neil Fidler or Nicola Marshall at somepeople@eastsussex.gov.uk or call or text Nicola on 07974 579865.

Groups for LGBT young people and those questioning their sexuality or gender also run in Eastbourne and Lewes. For more information about these groups and the work of the Targeted Youth Support Service, visit:
