Free baby books available at libraries

FAMILIES with children under 12 months are being encouraged to collect free baby books from their local library.

Bookstart baby packs are usually gifted to new parents by their health visitor at the six-week post birth check-up.

The pandemic has meant that some health checks have been carried out remotely and as a result parents may not have received their pack. The free packs, which are available to babies under 12 months old, can be collected from all East Sussex libraries.

Council appoints new provider for refuge services

Clarion Housing Association has been awarded the contract for the provision of refuge services across East Sussex.

From November 1, 2021 Clarion will provide specialist support in 47 units of safe accommodation across the county for women experiencing domestic abuse and violence, and their children. Within a year of the contract starting, this provision will increase to 56 units to include anybody experiencing domestic abuse.

East Sussex libraries reopen after lockdown

LIBRARIES across the county welcomed back visitors this month as they reopened their doors following the latest easing of lockdown restrictions.

Residents can once again browse the shelves and select books as well as return and reserve items. Computers are available to pre-book, and study space and Job Pods for online job interviews are available at selected libraries.
