Older People's Day in East Sussex 2019'It’s almost time for the Older People’s Day celebrations to begin and there are a huge range of events taking place across the county throughout September and October.

You can find out what’s happening by picking up the ‘Let’s Celebrate!’ booklet available from various locations across the county, including libraries and council offices, or download your copy here:

This year’s events programme, co-ordinated by the East Sussex Seniors’ Association, includes afternoon tea, day trips, tea dances, film screenings and so much more. Don’t feel restricted to stay in your local area: all events are open to people from across the county, older and younger!

The Older People’s Day celebrations mark and recognise publicly the achievements and contributions that older people make to society. As in previous years many of the events are organised and hosted by older volunteers.

We hope you find an event you can enjoy!

Let’s get social!

East Sussex County Council will be promoting all of the events on Twitter and Facebook. Follow ESCC and feel free to share photos of you enjoying the events you attend. If you tag @EastSussexCC in your posts and include the hashtag #OPD2019, we can see how much fun you’re all having!

The International Day of Older Person’s is 1st October, and events take place throughout September and October.
