The future of Eastbourne Station Health Centre – share your views

There are a few days left to take part in the survey on Eastbourne Station Health Centre – close date 31 August.

Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is reviewing the services currently provided at Eastbourne Station Health Centre to make sure that they’re meeting the health needs of local people, and they are asking for your views on the service.

Why is the future of the Health Centre being considered?

The CCG want to make sure that local people have access to the right services for them, at the right time. Walk-in centres were originally set up to provide same-day urgent care services for minor illnesses, minor infections, minor cuts and sprains. However, many things have changed since then, both nationally and locally.

The services at Eastbourne Station Health Centre are now duplicated by a range of other services available locally, especially Primary Care Improved Access. There’s also the improved 111 service and from December there will be Urgent Treatment Centres at our local hospitals. The latest information suggests that demand for walk-in services in Eastbourne is decreasing, with fewer and fewer people using the service. There is also a national and local strategy which says that CCGs have to establish new ways to provide urgent care, reduce confusion for local people about which services to access, and reduce duplication. The CCG also has a duty to spend money responsibly.

As a result of all these factors, the CCG has to consider whether the walk-in service is needed anymore and if it is a good thing to be spending money on.

Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford CCG would like to hear what you think about this so you can help shape the options. If these options involve changes to the services available at Eastbourne Station Health Centre then the CCG will consult with you again in the autumn.
