Ukraine crisis: how you can help

Thank you to everyone who’s helping refugees from Ukraine. You’re doing East Sussex proud.  Here’s a few things you might need to know:

  • If you’re looking to open your home to refugees, please register with the Government scheme, Homes for Ukraine. It’s by far the easiest way to arrange financial and other support. Please register, even if you’ve already made contact with Ukrainian guests directly.
  • If you’ve already been matched with refugees under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, East Sussex County Council will contact you directly. If you haven’t yet been matched, please don’t contact the Council but wait to hear more.
  • If you’re preparing to host refugees, the Council has published a welcome guide to try and help you settle them in and find services in the community.
  • If you’re donating to help Ukraine, financial help may be better than items like clothes or goods. The Disasters Emergency Committee is a good place.
  • Guidance for applying for a visa under the Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme is available on GOV.UK.

Please do see visit the County Council website which will be updated with information as Ukrainian guests begin to arrive: Ukraine crisis: how East Sussex is helping | East Sussex County Council
