Residents in the Ratton area of Eastbourne will be able to have their say on proposed changes to street lighting at an event on Saturday 22 June, 2013.
Members of East Sussex County Council’s street lighting team will be on hand to answer questions and listen to people’s concerns between 9am and noon at Ratton School in Park Avenue, Eastbourne.
The changes are part of a county-wide bid to save £885,000 by 2016 by changing the way roads are lit during the night and replacing street lights with modern LED alternatives.
Plans for the Ratton area include turning off a small number of street lights in some residential streets and dimming lights in the larger streets and along main roads. These changes will only affect street lighting between midnight and the early hours.
Work is being carried out on a ward by ward basis in Eastbourne and proposals have been drawn up by the county council in consultation with Eastbourne Borough Council, Sussex Police and other stakeholders. Public transport links to each area have also been taken into account.
Comments or concerns about the proposed changes in Ratton can also be made at local libraries or on our consultation page:
