Jail time for shop owner who sold illegal tobacco

A SHOP owner who failed to appear in court after the discovery of £6,000 worth illegal tobacco and cigarettes with a retail value of £6,000, has been jailed.

Arras Omar Ahmed, also known as Araz, of Devonshire Place, Hastings, faced three charges following two inspections and a test purchase by East Sussex Trading Standards at Little Shop in Bohemia Road, St Leonards. Continue reading

Views sought on re-advertised changes to town centre

Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) for Terminus Road, which include restricting vehicle access, closing a section of the road, changes to the current one-way system and remove of parking bays and bus stops, are being re-advertised. Continue reading

Home check service helps residents keep warm

With over 30,000 households in East Sussex living in fuel poverty, the free service offers telephone advice for anyone struggling to afford to keep warm at home, as well as money-saving advice and tips on how to stay warm for less.
