Event for county’s care businesses and unpaid carers

A FREE event for care and support businesses and unpaid carers is once again being offered by East Sussex County Council this autumn.

The Care and Support Provider drop-in event is taking place at Uckfield Civic Centre on Tuesday, October 6.

The event is aimed at care and support businesses, personal assistants and unpaid carers looking for advice on providing care and support to people within their own homes and delivering services in the community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to talk to teams from the county council and partner organisations who will share valuable guidance and advice about how to grow their business and better support the people they care for.

Cllr Mark Estcourt, the council’s lead member for adult social care and health, said: “This is the third year the event has been run for East Sussex care and support businesses and personal assistants and the second time that it has been open to unpaid carers.  The event provides an invaluable opportunity for attendees from care and support organisations to meet industry experts, evaluate their future business aims and network with others in the profession.

“In addition, with an estimated 69,000 unpaid carers in East Sussex, many are unaware of what support is out there to make their lives and those they care for a little easier. This event gives them an opportunity to talk to a wide range of organisations and come away from the day armed with useful information and guidance.”

This year’s event will include a range of stands hosted by organisations including Adult Social Care Training, Health and Social Care Connect, Care for the Carers, the Association of Carers, Age UK East Sussex, Citizen’s Advice, DISC - Dementia Support, and representatives from East Sussex County Council services, among others.
