Hollington Youth Hub officially opens

THE RIBBON has been cut on Hollington Youth Hub marking the end of a £3.3 million transformation.

Community representatives gathered on Friday, September 18, to celebrate the refurbishment and see what the venue had to offer.

Cllr Victoria Carson, East Sussex County Council lead member for children and families, officially opened the venue.

“I was delighted to be able to attend the official opening of the Hollington Youth Hub which has changed enormously from what it was,” she said.

“It’s now a lovely, bright, welcoming space with more facilities than you could possibly dream of.”

Young people can now be supported by a team of qualified youth workers, with visitors to the multi-purpose youth hub able to make use of a café area, training kitchen, arts room and chill-out space, music room and sports hall.

Funded by the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, the Youth Hub will offer a wide range of activities for young people as well as provide support for parents and carers of under fives through the Family Hub service, offer meeting and consultation spaces for partner agencies, voluntary and community organisations, and provide a dedicated health suite for the NHS to deliver local health and wellbeing services.

Cllr Carson added: “The positive impact this investment will have on the community cannot be understated and I look forward to seeing young people, families, and the wider Hastings community reaping the benefits.”

Hollington Youth Hub is the latest to benefit from investment with Youth Hubs in Heathfield, Peacehaven and Eastbourne have also undergone renovation or rebuilt in the last two years.
