New support programmes launched to help businesses thrive

Six new programmes will support businesses across East Sussex to grow and help to create new jobs.

The East Sussex County Council will offer ambitious small to medium-sized businesses support through workshops, mentoring and tailored one-to-one support.

The county council secured more than £400,000 of funding from the new Sussex and Brighton Strategic Authority to deliver the programmes, which are aimed at businesses at different stages of growth - from newly set up enterprises to ambitious companies looking to scale up.

Cllr Pete Morley, the county council’s lead member for economy said: “These programmes present a great opportunity for businesses in East Sussex who want to grow, giving them access to a range of help and advice from experts.

“As well as a boost for businesses taking part, supporting them to grow will benefit the wider economy and create much-needed new jobs for our residents.”

Businesses signing up will be offered workshops on reducing energy costs, workshops on business essentials, workshops on digital business skills, mentoring for creative businesses, and one-to-one support for businesses from qualified, experienced specialists.

The programmes will run between September and March and businesses are encouraged to sign up.

Six programmes will offer a range of tailored support including mentoring, advice and scaling-up, and help to run a sustainable business.  They will include one-to-one support as well as a variety of workshops designed to support sustainability and growth.
