Record number of events to celebrate older people
MORE than 100 events across the county will help celebrate ageing in East Sussex and mark the national Older People’s Day.
Nordic walking, New Age Kurling, coffee mornings, gardening drop-ins, and cookery workshops are among a range of activities on offer during this year’s Full of Life Festival, which runs through September and October.
The programme of events has been created by East Sussex County Council, in collaboration with East Sussex Seniors Association and seven local senior forums, to celebrate the contribution of older people and change the way people think about ageing.
Cllr Mark Estcourt, East Sussex County Council’s lead member for adult social care and health said: “I’m delighted that we are again able to support the Full of Life Festival which is a great opportunity for anyone over 50 to try a new activity, learn a new skill, get active and meet new people.
“The programme of events showcases the range of activities on offer across our county offering regular activity and all the benefits that can bring to people’s health and wellbeing.
“With many of the activities free and not requiring booking, it’s the perfect time to give a new hobby a go and meet new people.”
With more events on offer than ever, the festival promises to offer something for everyone over the age of 50, with events and activities available in every district and borough.
The full programme of events and more information about the festival is available at Full of Life events 2026 | East Sussex County Council
A Full of Life Festival brochure can also be picked up from libraries, leisure centres, and council offices.
