Work starts next month on a major road resurfacing scheme on the A22 Hailsham Bypass between the Boship roundabout and Cophall roundabout.
East Sussex County Council is carrying out the work in stages between Monday 4 February and Sunday 31 March.
Councillor Carl Maynard, Lead Member for Transport and Environment at the County Council said: “When we complete this work the road will be much safer for drivers to use. However, while the resurfacing takes place traffic delays are inevitable, especially during peak times – we’re really sorry for the disruption and we’re suggesting people allow extra time for their journeys.”
The work is being done in three stages between Monday 4 February and Sunday 31 March:
- Stage one is preparation work which will take place from Monday 4 February until Saturday 16 February.
- Stage two will involve road resurfacing from Sunday 17 February until Sunday 31 March.
- Stage three takes place on Saturday 23 February and Saturday 9 March when the roundabouts will be resurfaced overnight.
A contra-flow system will be in operation to manage the traffic during the work.
East Sussex Highways (a partnership between the County Council and contractors May Gurney) will be carrying out the work.
