A UNIQUE opportunity to play a leading role in finding safe and loving homes for children and young people in need is on offer in East Sussex.
East Sussex County Council is recruiting a new chairperson for the Independent Fostering Panel to head up a team responsible for making recommendations for new foster carer applicants and reviewing foster care provision across the county.
Applicants with experience with looked after children in foster care, either personally or professionally are invited to apply for the role after the current Chairperson announced her retirement.
Adrian Sewell, operations manager in East Sussex County Council’s Fostering Team said: “The successful applicant for this prestigious role will help to make a huge difference to children and young people who have not had the best start in life.
“They will lead a Panel committed to supporting the county council to provide the highest quality of foster care and achieving the best possible outcomes for our children.”
He added: “We are extremely grateful to the amazing work of the current chairperson, Jenny Clark, who has held the position for 10 years. She has helped make an immeasurable difference to the lives of countless families and we wish her a happy and healthy retirement.
Panel meetings take place once a month on average, but there are times when additional meetings are required.
