THE HISTORIC words which officially announced a new monarch will go on display in East Sussex.
The High Sheriff of East Sussex, Jane King, presented a framed version of the proclamation of King Charles III to Cllr Peter Pragnell, Chairman of East Sussex County Council.
The document contains the words which were read from the steps of County Hall in September to proclaim the new King after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The High Sheriff said she wanted to present the gift as ‘a reminder and souvenir of that very momentous day’.
The council will make a decision on the best place to display the proclamation to allow as many people as possible to view it.
