EAST Sussex County Council’s Chairman paid a visit to an inspiring charity dedicated to helping young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism access paid employment.
Cllr Roy Galley got to see first hand the wide-ranging programmes helping people gain skills, confidence and financial independence when he visited Little Gate Farm in Beckley.
Little Gate Farm currently supports 66 trainees at their work training centre. These individuals are developing their skills in animal care, gardening, floristry, woodcrafts, woodland management, and charcoal production.
The charity’s focus goes beyond developing practical skills. It is dedicated to supporting people into real jobs with real wages, so they can grow in confidence, gain financial independence, and thrive within their communities.
Cllr Galley said: “Little Gate Farm is so important because its aim is to get people into paid employment. Work is vital to give people dignity, purpose, confidence and self-worth.
“The team at Little Gate Farm are dedicated and very cheerful. There are many positive stories of people thriving with the right support and opportunities. Well done to all the team and supporters of the charity.”
Ends.
