Part of the Forest Way Country Park will be closed to the public this month as vital improvement work is carried out.
East Sussex County Council has already started work on ditches and resurfacing the path between Forest Row and East Grinstead, which closed on Monday this week.
The council is working in partnership with West Sussex County Council, which is carrying out resurfacing work on its section of the Forest Way, in a bid to reopen the popular walk in time for the Easter holiday.
Signs have been placed at the entrance points to the Forest Way Country Park and fencing put in place to protect the public from construction traffic.
The work, which is being carried out using European funding, is expected to be finished by March 28.
