Money advice service is helping people take back control of their finances and their health

Money can’t buy happiness, but when money becomes a worry, it can have a serious effect on health and wellbeing.

Even if you’re in generally good health, concerns about finances can cause sleepless nights, take their toll on relationships and lead to anxiety. For those in the community who are more vulnerable, money worries can lead to a vicious cycle of deteriorating health and difficulty managing daily tasks like household bills.

An East Sussex Better Together service is helping local people from some of the most deprived areas of East Sussex to take back some control of their finances and improve their health and wellbeing. Now in its fifth year, the ESBT Benefits and Debt Advice Project (BDAP) enables people to access their correct benefit entitlements and offers free, expert advice on managing debt to those with long-term physical or mental health conditions.
