Langney’s library service could soon move back to its permanent home after months of uncertainty.
A collapsed roof before Christmas forced the library service out of the shopping centre and into a temporary home at St Barnabas Church.
East Sussex County Council’s Library Service has been waiting for news on the future of the centre after being told it would reopen following repair work.
That work has now been carried out and members of staff are preparing to move back in.
Councillor Chris Dowling, Lead Member for Community Services, said: “Members of staff are working hard to prepare for the move back to the library’s permanent home.
“St Barnabas Church has been very co-operative and helpful in allowing us a small space at the front of the church which has enabled us to continue to provide as full a service as possible for residents.”
The library is due to reopen towards the end of July 2013, once essential safety works are completed.
