REGISTERING births and deaths will become more convenient for residents in the east of the county thanks to the launch of a new service.
East Sussex County Council’s registration service is offering appointments in Rye Library on Wednesday and Friday mornings to give residents an alternative to having to travel to Hastings to register births and deaths.
The appointments will be with an experienced Registrar in a private room on the first floor of the library building. The room is fully accessible by a lift.
“People registering births and deaths can often find it difficult to travel across the county to Hastings,” said Cllr Chris Dowling, East Sussex County Council’s Lead Member for Communities.
“The new service at Rye Library will make it easier for people to deal with the legalities and obtain the necessary paperwork at a time when they often have so many other things to think about. Customer care is always our prime concern.”
To book an appointment with a Registrar at Rye Library, call the Hastings Register Office on 01424 726530.
The Hastings registration area covers the borough of Hastings and Rother district.
