Councillor calls for more local authority foster carers

Cllr Bob Bowdler, lead member for children and families at East Sussex County Council, spoke directly to those attending the meeting about the need for more families to foster direct through the council’s in-house fostering service.

Ofsted praises council support for children and families

THE LIVES of the most vulnerable children in East Sussex are being improved by ‘consistently strong and effective’ support, an Ofsted inspection has found.

The help, protection and care children and young people are receiving from East Sussex County Council earned the authority an overall ‘good’ rating, while inspectors found the experiences and progress of children in care to be ‘outstanding’. Continue reading

Final two Family Hubs open their doors

FAMILIES across East Sussex will find it ever easier to access support after the final two of 11 new Family Hubs opened their doors.

Hubs in Lewes and Peacehaven were the latest to open, offering access to support and advice from Midwives, Health Visitors, Early Communications Support Workers, Early Years Practitioners, Community Engagement Coordinators and Early Help Keyworkers. Continue reading
