East Sussex couples secure their place in history

THREE East Sussex couples secured their place in the history books by being among the first in the country to enter into an opposite sex civil partnership.

First opposite sex civil partnerships to take place on New Year’s Eve

REGISTRARS will be available from midnight on New Year’s Eve for couples wanting to be among the first in the country to enter into an opposite sex civil partnership.

Following a change in the law, opposite sex couples can give the required 28 days’ notice from December 2, and will be able to sign the schedule and/or hold a ceremony in Eastbourne, Lewes or Hastings from midnight on Tuesday, December 31. Continue reading

EU settlement scheme offered in register offices

EU citizens living and working in East Sussex can now use county register offices to check their identity documentation as part of a free scheme enabling them to stay in the UK after Brexit.

The Government’s EU Settlement Scheme requires EU citizens and those from Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland to sign up to continue living in the country after June 30, 2021. Continue reading
