Free NHS Lung Health Checks are being offered in the Hastings and St Leonards area this summer

If you are aged 55-74 and registered with a GP in Hastings and St Leonards you may receive a text from your surgery about free NHS Lung Health Checks, a sort of MOT for your lungs, which are coming to the local area this summer.

This will be followed by a letter, which will arrive in a yellow envelope from the NHS and InHealth, who are supporting the NHS to deliver the checks in our local communities. The checks are only for people who currently smoke or have smoked in the past, so if this does not apply to you, please let InHealth know using the contact details in the letter.

People will be offered a telephone conversation and may then be invited to see a nurse and have a lung scan. This will be in a convenient community location: the Asda car park in St Leonards. Most people will find that their lungs are working fine, while others may benefit from further tests and treatment, either from their GP or hospital doctors. When it comes to lung health, spotting problems early can make a huge difference.
