Community welcomes junction improvement

RESIDENTS in Hastings have welcomed improvements to a junction that will ease congestion and make it safer for pedestrians.

Work on the junction of Albert Road and Denmark Place finished ahead of schedule despite the discovery of concrete reinforced with steel bars which slowed down progress. Continue reading →

Changes to household waste sites on the way

RESIDENTS are being advised that changes to household waste recycling sites in East Sussex will come into force at the start of next month.

From Monday, October 1 2018, two sites will close permanently, opening hours at two more will change and charges for non-household waste will come into force at all sites across the county. Continue reading →

Card payments for parking in Eastbourne

MOTORISTS in Eastbourne will be able to pay for on-street parking using their credit or debit card as new machines are installed.

East Sussex County Council this week began a programme which will see 151 parking machines replaced by new, state-of-the-art machines that take chip and pin or contactless card payments as well as cash. Continue reading →

Major emergency exercise comes to Rye

RESIDENTS in Rye are being advised of a large-scale exercise taking place at a chemical plant in the town to plan for a major emergency.

The emergency services, local councils, other agencies and community volunteers will be in attendance at Tradebe Chemicals Ltd, at Rye Harbour, on Tuesday, September 18 from 7pm to 9pm 2018. Continue reading →

Youngsters make a splash thanks to cash boost

Eastbourne Round Table and 41 Club members at Cuckmere with some of the sit-on kayaks bought with their £1,500 donation to Buzz ActiveYOUNG people with special educational needs have been taking to the water at an East Sussex activity centre – thanks to a donation from local charitable organisations.

Eastbourne Round Table and the associated Eastbourne 41 club donated £1,500 for the purchase of a fleet of easy-to-use ‘sit-on’ kayaks for the Buzz Active centre at Cuckmere. Continue reading →
