Record road improvement programme planned

A RECORD number of East Sussex roads will be given a new lease of life with this year’s programme of pothole-preventing work.

‘Cover Up Mate’ – and reduce skin cancer risk

MEN in East Sussex are being urged to cover up this summer and reduce their risk of developing skin cancer.

Cases of potentially fatal malignant melanoma, the most serious form of the disease, have more than doubled in the county since 2006 and rates are rising faster in men than women. Continue reading →

Energy plant fuels £400k community cash boost

COMMUNITY projects in Newhaven will benefit from a £400,000 cash boost thanks to funding from a town energy plant.

£1.2 million funding boost for kids’ health

School health improvement grants - Eastbourne-based Olympic hurdler Seb Rodger leads children at Park Mead Primary School on the new track they use to run the ‘Daily Mile’

SCHOOLS in East Sussex will receive extra funding to develop an ambitious scheme aimed at improving children’s physical and mental health.

New recruits to the Support With Confidence scheme were welcomed at an event at The View Hotel, in EastbourneA SCHEME which helps vulnerable people to live independently in their own homes is appealing for new recruits.

Support With Confidence, run by East Sussex County Council, enables people to choose a personal assistant or other care provider who’s been vetted and approved for quality, safety and training. Continue reading →
