Remembering a WW1 hero from East Sussex
A WAR hero from Eastbourne who lost his life in ‘The Day that Sussex Died’ during the First World War has been commemorated in his home town.
Nelson Carter, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery at the Battle of the Boar’s Head, died aged 29 in June 1916 when he was shot while rescuing wounded men. Continue reading
