Gritters geared up in East Sussex

Gritters parked up GRITTERS will be running their routes across the county next week to ensure they are geared up for the cold winter months.

On Friday, September 19, 21 gritters will be travelling along the most heavily used roads as part of the annual Operation Snowdrop, when East Sussex Highways fine-tunes its response to wintry weather.

Major refurbishment begins at Newhaven Swing Bridge

Newhaven Swing BridgeWORK has begun on a £1 million project to refurbish a bridge which forms part of a key coastal route through East Sussex.

Bridge demolition work begins on Link Road

Credit: Ady KerryTHE demolition of Ninfield Road Bridge has begun as the construction of the new Bexhill to Hastings Link Road continues.

The existing bridge is too low and narrow to allow traffic on the new link road to pass underneath it. The new structure will be a single span bridge keeping the existing brickwork retaining walls. Continue reading →
