Praise for students as exam results announced
COUNCIL leaders are celebrating the efforts of young people across East Sussex today as this year’s GCSE results are announced.
Cllr Bob Standley, lead member for education and inclusion, special educational needs and disability at East Sussex County Council, said: “Our young people have worked hard to ensure that they were well prepared for their examinations and this is reflected in the results that they have received today.
Prison sentence for rogue builder
A ROGUE builder who tricked an elderly man into paying large sums of money for unnecessary work on his home has been handed a 34-month jail term.
William Henry Jones, previously of Butts Field, Hailsham, pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on Monday, August 14 to fraud and money laundering offences.
Events celebrate Older People’s Day
A PROGRAMME of activities is taking place in September and October to mark International Older People’s Day 2023.
The Full of Life events programme has been unveiled by East Sussex County Council and East Sussex Seniors’ Association (ESSA) and features over 40 free and paid for activities open to the 50 plus age group.
