Shopworker jailed for illegal tobacco stash
A SHOPWORKER in Eastbourne has been jailed for eight months following the discovery of illegal hand rolling tobacco and cigarettes at retail premises in the town.
Sarbast Hassan, who now lives at Essex Street, Hull, was sentenced at Hove Crown Court on Tuesday, July 12 after pleading guilty at Hastings Magistrates Court in March to the possession of counterfeit cigarettes for sale and possessing non UK duty paid hand rolling tobacco and cigarettes.
Surface dressing programme starts on county’s roads
ROADS across East Sussex are getting a summer makeover as this year’s surface dressing programme gets underway.
East Sussex Highways will treat 28 miles of rural and urban roads across the county, roughly the distance from County Hall in Lewes to Hastings Pier.
St Leonards road to close for resurfacing work
DAYTIME closures will be in place on a St Leonards road for three weeks while resurfacing work is carried out.
