MOTORISTS in Seaford will be able to enjoy a smoother ride as a road improvement scheme gets underway in the town.
East Sussex County Council begins a two-week programme on Monday, June 2 2014, which will see five sections of road resurfaced.
The scheme begins with resurfacing of a 260m section of Stafford Road, before crews resurface a 613m stretch of Marine Parade and work on the full length of Sutton Drove (600m) and Beacon Road (372m).
Work on the final road, a 405m section of Claremont Road, is due to finish on Tuesday, June 17 2014.
The sections of road being resurfaced will be closed to through traffic while the work is completed, with signed diversion routes in place.
Cllr Carl Maynard, county council lead member for transport and environment, said: “The works in Seaford are part of our ongoing commitment to improving the county’s roads.
“We’d ask people to bear with us while the work is carried out, as the improvements will allow drivers to enjoy a smoother, safer journey for years to come.”
The project is part of an investment by the council of more than £50 million to improve hundreds of roads across the county over the next two years.
