FADED road markings outside schools across East Sussex are being bought back to life in a bid to improve safety.
East Sussex Highways have embarked on a project to repaint “school keep clear” markings at 192 schools in the county.
The refresh is part of ongoing maintenance work being carried out by the East Sussex Highways – a partnership between East Sussex County Council and the Costain CH2M joint venture.
“Safety outside schools is of paramount importance but road markings warning motorists to keep the area clear have faded over time,” said Gary Massey, customer director at East Sussex Highways. “With a lick of paint, there will now be no chance of motorists missing the signs.”
Road markings have already been repainted at around 30 schools.
