Truckers driving home for Christmas thanks to urgent Sussex operation

DOZENS of lorry-drivers were arriving safely back in mainland Europe today after an urgent and successful Christmas operation at Newhaven port in Sussex.

Teams of volunteers from the NHS, along with St John Ambulance and British Red Cross volunteers, worked late into the night and early in the morning to help the drivers get Covid tests to allow them to board ferries to Dieppe in France. Continue reading

Trading Standards team’s efforts protect the county

MORE than 700 Covid-related calls have been made to the county’s trading standards team since March, the latest figures show.

On top of their usual work, and in a bid to keep people safe, the team from East Sussex have issued advice and guidance to a large number of businesses and residents as well as carrying out 158 visits to barbers and hairdressers, homeware stores and garden centres.

Green light for Seven Sisters site transfer

Cuckmere Haven, at Seven Sisters Country ParkTHE OWNERSHIP of an East Sussex beauty spot can be transferred to protect and enhance its future, the Government has said.

East Sussex County Council has been given the go ahead by the Department of Food Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to transfer the Seven Sisters County Park site to the South Downs National Park Authority.
