Overnight closures for Forest Row road repairs

East Sussex Highways logoA FOREST Row road will be closed overnight for two weeks as major improvement work is carried out.

East Sussex Highways will start repairs to the A22 Lewes Road/London Road on Monday, July 4, with work continuing until Friday, July 15.

To minimise disruption to residents and road users, the work will be carried out in two sections with road closures in place between 8pm and 6am.

From Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8, repairs will be carried out to the existing road surface between the junction with Gilham Lane and the junction with Highgate Road.

This will be followed by road surface repairs to the section of London Road between the Wall Hill Road junction and the Esso Garage, which will take place between Monday, July 11 and Friday, July 15.

Karl Taylor, assistant director for operations at East Sussex County Council, said: “This work will improve the road surface along this well-used route, making it safer for motorists.  To ensure the work can be carried out quickly and safely we need to close the road, but by carrying out the work overnight and in two sections, we hope to minimise disruption to residents and road users.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused but would ask the public to bear with us as we carry out this essential work.”

During the road closures, signposted diversions will be in place.  Access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained.  Anyone needing vehicle access during the works can discuss this with the team on site.

Details of this and other forthcoming roadworks are available on the East Sussex Highways website at www.eastsussexhighways.com
