Public urged to recycle batteries responsibly

RECENT fires at waste sites and on collections vehicles have prompted fresh calls for people in East Sussex to dispose of batteries correctly.

Although the cause of all the fires has not been confirmed, the council and its waste partners, Veolia and N+P, fear batteries that have been incorrectly disposed of are to blame for many of the incidents.

New highways contractor for East Sussex announced

RoadworksEAST Sussex County Council’s new contract for highways and infrastructure services has been awarded to Balfour Beatty Living Places Ltd, council leaders have confirmed.

The contract, valued at £297 million, will run for an initial seven years from May 1, 2023, with an option to extend to a maximum of 14 years – worth up to £730 million. Continue reading
