TWO outdoor centres in East Sussex have joined forces to relaunch under a new name and with an expanded range of activities.
Spray Water Sports, in Eastbourne, and The Canoe Barn, at Cuckmere Haven, are now known as Buzz Active, boasting a fresh look, a new website and a wider range of outdoor pursuits, including the Duke of Edinburgh programme.
The East Sussex County Council-managed service offers activities including windsurfing, kayaking, powerboating, dinghy sailing, paddleboarding, canoeing, raft building and cycling.
The relaunch was marked with a giant paddleboard race off the beach in Eastbourne featuring two teams of young people from Bexhill College.
Buzz Active was officially opened by Cllr Nick Bennett, county council lead member for learning and school effectiveness, and Cllr Sylvia Tidy, lead member for children and families.
Cllr Bennett said: “The newly-launched Buzz Active now offers an even greater range of activities which can help young people develop skills for life and contribute to their personal development.”
The team of qualified instructors behind Buzz Active has been offering nationally accredited courses for more than 20 years to individuals, groups and families, children of all ages, schools and groups with special educational needs and disabilities.
Corporate outdoor team-building sessions and school holiday clubs are also on offer.
Richard Wilson, Buzz Active manager at Eastbourne, said: “Anyone can take part in our activities as we cater for all abilities at an affordable price.
“Whether you’re getting started or getting better, we have sessions to appeal to beginners through to those who want to compete, race and coach.”
