Virtual work experience gives students career insight

MORE than 1,300 students from across East Sussex were able to get an insight into the world of work despite the global pandemic, thanks to a virtual initiative.

Created by East Sussex County Council’s Careers Hub and Work Experience teams in association with local consultancy Always Possible, the Virtual Work Experience programme allowed employers to set authentic challenges which helped students learn more about the workplace. Continue reading

Green light given to plans to help town centre thrive

PLANS for the second phase of a scheme to modernise and enhance Eastbourne Town Centre are set to move to the final stage.

Views sought on improvements to major road route

THE PUBLIC, businesses and organisations are being asked to give their view on a raft of measures aimed at improving a major road in East Sussex.

Proposals have been developed for nine junctions along the A22 and A2290 between Hailsham and Eastbourne to improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, reduce traffic and journey times, as well as tackling congestion issues. Funding boost for new supported apprenticeship scheme

THE COUNCIL has agreed funding of up to £615,000 to deliver a Supported Apprenticeship programme to create opportunities for some of the county’s most vulnerable residents.

People living in East Sussex in supported and temporary accommodation, and those at risk of homelessness in the county, will be given support to access apprenticeship placements and vocational training and earn sufficient income to help them live independently.
