Highways team is ready for winter
A FLEET of gritters has been primed and is ready to roll into action to keep the county’s roads clear this winter.
With 10,000 tonnes of salt stored for the season and 23 gritters and 42 drivers on standby 24/7, East Sussex Highways is ready to react when snow is forecast, or the road surface temperature falls near to or below freezing.

Council secures Levelling Up funding for new Exceat Bridge
THE PROJECT to replace the single lane crossing at Exceat with a new two-lane bridge has been given a cash injection of nearly £8 million.
East Sussex County Council has been awarded £7,957,517 from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund for a new two-lane bridge, with improved pavements and safer crossing points for pedestrians.
