DRIVERS in East Sussex are being urged to be ‘deer aware’ this spring to avoid collisions on the county’s roads.
The risk of encountering the animals increases in April and May when young deer are born, and East Sussex County Council has launched its annual campaign to warn motorists that the animals may appear on the road unexpectedly over the next couple of months. Continue reading
OVER 160,000 households in Hastings, Rother and Wealden can declutter and help the environment at the same time by recycling their small electrical items via a kerbside collection service.
Unwanted small electrical items are one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK. In a concerted effort to tackle this growing challenge, the East Sussex Joint Waste Collection Partnership joined forces with Material Focus earlier this year to set up the small electricals recycling scheme as part of the Recycle Your Electricals campaign.
The council’s Highways team are available to deal with emergency call outs throughout the year.
Although there is usually an increase in out of hours calls during the winter months, the Highways team deal with emergencies on the county’s roads 365 days a year helping the public, making hazards on the highway safe and keeping roads open in all weathers. Continue reading
A NEW service has just gone live to support the national NHS Test and Trace system.
Working from West Sussex County Council’s COVID-19 Community Hub, the service will take on responsibility for contacting individuals across East and West Sussex who have received a positive COVID-19 test result, but were unable to be contacted by the national NHS Test and Trace team within 48 hours. EAST SUSSEX businesses in the creative, cultural and digital sectors will be able to access further help after a support scheme has been extended.
The South East Creatives programme – set up by the South East Creative Economy Network to help the creative and digital sector across East Sussex, Kent and Essex – will now be available until June 2021.
