Planning approval paves way for next phase of town scheme

escc logoWORK on the next phase of a scheme to improve Eastbourne town centre is due to begin before the autumn following planning committee approval.

East Sussex County Council’s planning committee approved a number of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) – the legal orders necessary to carry out phase 2a of the ambitious scheme designed to boost the vitality of the town centre and enhance accessibility for pedestrians and wheelchair and mobility aid users.

A22 roadworks will extend life of road

A MAIN road between Polegate and Hailsham will be getting a new lease of life as part of a programme of repairs.

The East Sussex Highways scheme on the A22 will see carriageway jointing – filling cracks and joints in the road – and surface treatment work to seal and waterproof the road and protect it against ageing. Continue reading →

Lasting memorial to brave soldier unveiled

THE bravery of a First World War solider has been marked with a permanent memorial a century after he was wounded in battle.

Claude Nunney died shortly after he was injured during an attack on a heavily fortified German defensive trench system, known as the Drocourt-Quéant Line, at Dury on September 1 and 2, 1918. Continue reading →
