Volunteering in the spotlight at library events

LewesLibrary2PEOPLE who are interested in volunteering are invited to talk to an expert at a series of drop-in sessions at libraries in Eastbourne and Lewes.

The events, which are continuing in 2014 following a successful launch in Eastbourne last year, will allow visitors to meet a ‘Volunteering Champion’ who will be able to answer any questions about volunteering and to help them find the right role for them.

The new service is being offered on a monthly basis by Volunteer Centre East Sussex, which puts people interested in volunteering in touch with organisations which might need their services.

Cllr Chris Dowling, East Sussex County Council lead member for community services, said: “Volunteering is a great way for people to give back to their community, make friends and learn new skills.

“These drop-in sessions will make it easier for people to find out more about how volunteering can fit into their lives with an informal chat in a central community venue.”

The Volunteering Champion will be available at Eastbourne Library, in Grove Road, on Tuesday, January 21, Tuesday, February 18 and Tuesday, March 18, and at Lewes Library, in Styles Field, on Wednesday, January 29, Wednesday, February 19 and Wednesday, March 26.

Sessions run from 10am to noon on each day.
