Chance to set sail this summer

Windsurfing at Spray Water SportsYOUNG people can get a taste of sailing and windsurfing with a series of low-cost courses running this summer.

Spray Water Sports, the East Sussex County Council water sports centre in Eastbourne, is running the classes for 16 to 25-year-olds from Thursday, June 26 2014 for six weeks.

The courses in level one sailing and windsurfing are being offered for £35, reduced from the normal price of £150.

Richard Wilson, centre manager, said: “This is a great chance for people to get a good grounding in all the basics of sailing and windsurfing at a very affordable price.

“The courses are aimed primarily at young people who don’t do a lot of sport at the moment, but may also benefit those who are already quite active but would like to try a new sport.”

Funding for the classes has been obtained through Active Sussex, which distributes Sport England funds in the county.

The courses are running as part of Sportivate, a National Lottery-funded scheme aimed at capitalising on the legacy of London 2012 by giving young people access to sport.

The courses run on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. Anyone interested is asked to call Richard or Craig on 01323 417023, or email Spray.watersports@eastsussex.gov.uk
