Time to take action against domestic violence and abuse

Cllr Bill BentleyRESIDENTS are being urged to take action and help eliminate domestic violence and abuse against women and girls as part of an international campaign.

Last year 8,285 domestic violence and abuse incidents were reported to police in East Sussex, an increase of 30 per cent since 2014, while the number of sexual offences reported soared 106 per cent in the same period. Continue reading

Residents reap benefits of energy plant cash boost

An all-weather path alongside the river Ouse in Piddinghoe has been created and interpretation boards explaining the history of Tide Mills erected, using money left over from landscaping around the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility. Continue reading

Awards finalist service ‘puts people with dementia first’

Cllr Carl MaynardA PIONEERING service which helps people with dementia get the support they need and eases pressure on the NHS has been recognised in a national awards scheme.

The Primary Care Service, running in Bexhill, Hastings & St Leonards and Seaford, was a finalist in the innovation for dementia services category in the National Dementia Care Awards. Continue reading
