Link road boost for Newhaven Port

Work starts this week on a new link road at Newhaven Port which will help drive regeneration and provide a huge economic boost to the town and county.

Newhaven Port & Properties has confirmed that work will begin on Phase One of their north link road on Monday, March 15. The new link road will connect to the recently completed Newhaven Port Access Road, which has been constructed by East Sussex County Council.

Hastings road closure delayed

THE SCHEDULED road closure of Battle Road in Hastings from Monday, March 15 for the installation of temporary concrete protection blocks has been postponed due to emergency SGN gas works.

The work to install the concrete blocks is now expected to start on Tuesday, April 6. During the work the road will be closed 24 hours a day for six days, until Sunday, April 11.

Keep following the rules as complaints to Trading Standards continue to rise

Residents across the county are being urged to continue to follow the rules after East Sussex Trading Standards received nearly 1,000 complaints during the last year about individuals or businesses not following the regulations.

Since Covid-19 restrictions came into force in March 2020, members of the public have reported businesses such as gyms and hairdressers continuing to trade during tier restrictions and the national lockdowns.
