Mockingbird boosts foster carer support

FOSTERING families across East Sussex are now able to join Mockingbird, a scheme offering an additional layer of practical and emotional support.

East Sussex County Council has launched The Mockingbird Family Model, a programme that creates a familiar network around an experienced fostering household, known as a Hub Home.

Known as a Constellation, the six to ten families come together like an extended family. Mockingbird families will share experience and understanding, celebrate successes, and support each other through challenging times. Continue reading

Views sought on admin fee for those who self-fund care

RESIDENTS are being asked to share their views on plans to charge an admin fee to adults who fully-fund their own care.

Under the proposals adults who pay for all of their care will be charged a set-up fee if they ask East Sussex County Council to arrange care and support on their behalf and an ongoing administration fee to cover the council’s costs. Continue reading

Motorists warned to be #deeraware this spring

DRIVERS in East Sussex are being urged to be ‘deer aware’ this spring to avoid collisions on the county’s roads.

The risk of encountering the animals increases in April and May when young deer are born, and East Sussex County Council has launched its annual campaign to warn motorists that the animals may appear on the road unexpectedly over the next couple of months. Continue reading
