Minister’s visit highlights holiday activities support

HOLIDAY Food and Fun programmes in East Sussex have been highlighted during a visit by a Government minister and other senior national and local representatives.

The Minister for Children and Families, Vicky Ford, visited the county to learn about the Department for Education funded schemes which provide free activities and food to support eligible children during the Easter, summer and Christmas holidays this year. Continue reading

Rainbow flag flies at County Hall

THE rainbow flag is flying above County Hall in Lewes in support of equality and diversity.

Despite Pride events being restricted or cancelled due to Covid-19, representatives from East Sussex County Council, Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) gathered to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Continue reading

Virtual work experience gives students career insight

MORE than 1,300 students from across East Sussex were able to get an insight into the world of work despite the global pandemic, thanks to a virtual initiative.

Created by East Sussex County Council’s Careers Hub and Work Experience teams in association with local consultancy Always Possible, the Virtual Work Experience programme allowed employers to set authentic challenges which helped students learn more about the workplace. Continue reading
