Virtual careers week to inspire future workforce

EMPLOYERS from across East Sussex will be on hand to inspire and mobilise the future workforce during an innovative virtual careers week.

East Sussex residents encouraged to support local children’s futures through fostering

RESIDENTS across the county are being urged to consider becoming foster carers during Foster Care Fortnight.

During the annual campaign, which this year runs from May 10 to 23, the county council is highlighting the need to find more people who can provide local children and young people with a home at a time of need.

East Sussex foster carers have given almost three thousand years of care to children, but with more children for waiting for placements the council is using Foster Care Fortnight to encourage more people to make a difference to children’s lives by becoming foster carers or supported lodgings providers.

Innovative cycle sessions gearing up to reopen

EAST Sussex County Council’s Bikeability Cycle Team are gearing up to restart weekly Wheels for All cycling sessions for children and adults with disabilities and additional needs at the Eastbourne Cycle Centre, where they will also be running Bikeability courses during the Easter holidays.

Like many groups and activities, Wheels for All sessions were forced to stop when the country returned to lockdown in January. Continue reading

Creative projects aim to tackle lockdown strain

Five new projects are launching in the community this month to explore creative ways to overcome the strains of lockdown and think about public health and wellbeing beyond COVID.

Commissioned by East Sussex County Council Cultural Strategy and Public Health staff, the Everyday Creativity programme is being managed by Lewes-based arts charity Culture Shift, with each project being led by different creative organisations.
