New Lane Rental scheme for roadworks
A SCHEME could be implemented to reduce the length of time roadworks take on the busiest roads in the county.
At its meeting on Thursday, September 30, Cabinet approved plans to develop an East Sussex Lane Rental scheme, subject to approval from the Secretary of State for Transport.
Under the Department of Transport backed initiative, companies will be charged up to £2,500 per day for carrying out roadworks.

Free baby books available at libraries
FAMILIES with children under 12 months are being encouraged to collect free baby books from their local library.
Bookstart baby packs are usually gifted to new parents by their health visitor at the six-week post birth check-up.
The pandemic has meant that some health checks have been carried out remotely and as a result parents may not have received their pack. The free packs, which are available to babies under 12 months old, can be collected from all East Sussex libraries.
