Free slippers giveaway at fall prevention events

RESIDENTS in East Sussex can pick up a free pair of non-slip slippers at events to mark Falls Prevention Awareness Week, which runs between September 15 and 19.

Public Health bosses at East Sussex County Council are running four public events to share advice on how older people can improve their balance with regular exercises, and hand out the free footwear to those attending. Continue reading →

New steps allow access to ‘hidden gem’ beach

New steps at Cow Gap, near Beachy HeadACCESS to the beach at the foot of an East Sussex beauty spot has been restored after fire-hit steps were replaced.

The wooden steps at Cow Gap, near Beachy Head, were destroyed in a suspected arson attack in December 2016, cutting off access to beaches at the foot of the famous cliffs. Continue reading →

Plans to improve road safety in the spotlight

Cllr Nick BennettPEOPLE in Heathfield are being asked for their views on plans for a traffic calming scheme aimed at cutting vehicle speed and improving safety.

Views sought on bus stop relocation plans

VIEWS are being sought on changes to Eastbourne town centre bus stops designed to make Terminus Road pedestrian friendly.

Proposals agreed by the Eastbourne Town Centre Improvement Scheme Project Board include relocating bus stops in Terminus Road to Gildredge Road and Cornfield Road. Continue reading →

Join fight for cleaner air, residents urged

RESIDENTS are being encouraged to sign up for alerts about air pollution levels as part of a national awareness week.

Sussex-Air – the county’s air quality partnership – is throwing its support behind the British Lung Foundation’s Breathe Easy Week, which runs from June 12 to June 16, and is urging people to sign up to its airAlert service. Continue reading →
