Measles death sparks call for vaccinations

HEALTH bosses in East Sussex are urging parents and carers to check that their children are up to date with vaccinations against measles amid a surge of cases across the country.

Figures from the UK Health Security Agency show more than 520 confirmed cases of measles in England since the beginning of the year, including one which claimed the life of child in Liverpool. Continue reading →

Section of the A22 closed after serious car fire

RoadworksA SECTION of the northbound A22 has been closed for repairs following a serious car fire early this morning (June 11).

The road, between its junction with Diplocks Way and the Boship Roundabout in Hailsham, was severely damaged by the fire and will need to be repaired. Continue reading →

Get the Buzz and get Active in East Sussex

Baking effort raises £1,000 for MS charities

Cheque presentation from ESCC to the MS SocietyBIG-hearted council workers got baking to raise money for two multiple sclerosis charities.

Fraudster convicted for using dead dad’s Blue Badge

Cllr Carl MaynardA MOTORIST from St Leonards fraudulently used her dead father’s Blue Badge to park in a disabled bay, a court has heard.

Marion Donnelly, of Bulverhythe Road, St Leonards, was caught displaying the badge in her car in Western Road, Bexhill, on March 13 – more than a year after her father died. Continue reading →
